About Us

Overview

Hallpass and Friends is an organization that is devoted to providing resources that allow teachers to extend learning beyond their classrooms. The primary focus of the organization is to help secondary school teachers utilize web applications to enhance their curriculum and even develop their own learning modules to share with collegues around the world.

Hallpass was founded in reaction to several circumstances all too common in education today. Many schools have adopted technology into their curriculum. Computers in the classroom are becoming common. But there exist a great divide that separates those teachers who are using the technology and those who do not. Of those using technology, most are under-utilizing it, and many are not realizing any benefits to learning.

Services

Hallpass offers teachers many recourses that can help enhance learning. The Modules section of the site is a repository of learning modules developed by innovative teachers through Hallpass workshops. These modules are free to all teachers and are published under a Creative Commons license.

Hallpass Portal is a web application that provides teachers with an online presence where they can create presentations, post weblog discussion questions, assign collaborative projects in the wiki, and review student assingments in the file upload area.

Hallpass Workshops are designed to help teachers use technology to enhance learning in their curriculum. Instructor lead workshops include both face-to-face as well as online sessions.
